About ‘Preacher Said What?’

‘Preacher Said What?’ (PSW) is a blog dedicated to capturing quirky quotes or doctrinally ridiculous statements made my preachers. This site is dedicated to the preachers that make you say ‘what?’ with the things they say.

This site is not to condemn anyone. Words are powerful when written or spoken. What a preacher often says can reveal enough in who they are, what they are about and where they want to lead people. Sometimes preachers have a bad hair day and say stupid things by accident. It’s about time that we see the preacher is simply human like you and me, and not some contemporary Moses leading the new Israel into some End Time Army Armageddon.

This is how this blog works:

1. We will be posting up what preachers say in their sermons, podcasts or blogs that can make anyone laugh, cry, furious, scream ‘blasphemy!’ or anything that requires you to throw something across the room.

2. We will be relying heavily on others to provide us with material what outrageous preacher are saying. Please supply:

  • THE CONTEXT! Then the quote.
  • the link.
  • the date (and time if possible).
  • if it’s a video, the time frame in which you quote the preacher.
  • if in a book, the page number, chapter, name of book and year.
  • if in an online file, the file type, website url and date, the page number, chapter, name of book and year (all this if possible).

3. What is said on PSW will stay on PSW. We will edit out bad language unless quoting the original source.

4. This will be a place to comment and discuss issues raised with what the preachers are quoted in saying.

What is the point in doing all this, you might say?

  • We hope this blog brings more laughter to the Christian community. Laughter is good medicine and also brings people together.
  • We hope this blog brings more awareness to the concern many Christian’s are seeing and hearing happening in God’s church today.
  • We hope this blog helps bring accountability to the preachers preaching to the church.
  • We hope this blog, with Jesus’ help, can allow believers walk together in Spirit and in Truth, Love and Justice. Remember: with AMAZING Grace comes amazing responsibility.
  • We hope this blog helps promote awareness what certain preachers are saying.

  1. Hey guys.

    Just stumbled across you site

I am choosing to write this note anonymously because i am known to you and don’t want to jepordise our friendship. Please hear the heart that this is said with, one that only seeks the best for u and the building of Gods kingdom.

Do you realize that your blog is sowing seeds of doubt into the minds of so many people regarding mighty men and women of god?

Remember that one negative thing can destroy an entire reputation and many people may not have the spiritual maturity to make a decision regarding these preachers for themselves. Comments that you write here may actually stop people receiving what God has for them through these men and women.

Personally i have looked up to many of the preachers you have named on your site for years and To be honest I don’t want to read about what you are saying about them. I would rather stand firm on the revelations i HAVE received from them and let love cover anything that doesn’t line up with Gods word. That is what christ does anyway… Covers anything that is not of him with love and grace.

Sure these preachers are human and you may not agree with what people are saying but let me ask you this… Does this website unify or divide Gods kingdom and the work he is doing through them… Are you building people up into mighty men and women or are you sowing seeds of judgement and doubt.. Are you honoring the levels of authority God has placed on certain men and women in ministry… Are you REALLY not judging peoples words and actions?

These preachers all have some amazing and powerful revelations to share with us (even though they may have some human ideas we don’t agree with) How about setting up a blog that shares some of the amazing testimonies and revelations that will inspire and uplift every one.

Remember, If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. Mrk3.24.

Don’t bad-mouth each other, friends. It’s God’s Word, his Message, his Royal Rule, that takes a beating in that kind of talk. You’re supposed to be honoring the Message, not writing graffiti all over it…… James 4.11. The Message Translation.

I hope you take this with the heart that it is written with. Be blessed my friends.

  2. “Please hear the heart that this is said with, one that only seeks the best for u and the building of Gods kingdom.”

I’m all for the building of God’s Kingdom, which is why this website started.

“Do you realize that your blog is sowing seeds of doubt into the minds of so many people regarding mighty men and women of god?”

All I’m doing is quoting these men. It’s odd you are pointing out ‘seeds of doubt’, when all I am doing is quoting pastors books and sermons.

“Comments that you write here may actually stop people receiving what God has for them through these men and women.”

The only comments I was severe one was the article on Mark Kelsey where he openly lied and deceived the church. I would not usually do that on Preacher Said What – but that was an exception.

“Personally i have looked up to many of the preachers you have named on your site for years and To be honest I don’t want to read about what you are saying about them.”

This site has been running for two years now I think, The other that I run is Rejecting Plato’s Apple.

“I would rather stand firm on the revelations i HAVE received from them and let love cover anything that doesn’t line up with Gods word.

Then you are at odds with the factual revelations of scripture if you choose to stand on the revelations of men. When Christ was among us, he openly ridiculeDs, criticised, condemned and name-called the false prophets, teachers and shepherds of Israel – those being the Pharisees and other dodgy religious- political figures.

Jesus himself said: “”Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” Matt 10:34

    He also said:
“Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.” Luke 12:51

The DOCTRINES and TEACHINGS of Jesus Christ unite true believers but divides the sheep from the goats within the church

Both the Spirit, Jesus and the true teachings of Scripture UNITE us. Jesus says: “”Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock… But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.” Matt 7:24, 26

It was Jesus who is Truth and Wisdom incarnate in flesh as these are God’s attributes. It was Jesus who truly the knew scriptures which the Pharisees twisted for their own gain, after the traditions of men. It was Jesus’ disciples and the Apostle Paul who were doctrinally pure. It is this simple: we hold to the teachings of Christ and the Apostles – or we establish our own lives upon the sands of destruction, the revelations of so-called ‘men of God’.

“These preachers all have some amazing and powerful revelations to share with us (even though they may have some human ideas we don’t agree with) How about setting up a blog that shares some of the amazing testimonies and revelations that will inspire and uplift every one.”

I’ve done that too. It’s called Gospel News Flash at http://gospelnewsflash.wordpress.com/. It is important to go to clean freshwater springs and not muddy or salty springs for teaching. It is good to eat from trees that produce good fruit and not thistle bushes that we think may have figs in them.

“Remember, If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. Mrk3.24.”

This is why the church is divided in this day with all the different interpretations of scripture and man-made philosophies flying around. If we are in agreement that Jesus Christ is Lord and we believe that He died for our sins, rose from the dead so we may be raised with Him and is now seated att the right hand side of the Father, interceding on behalf of us through His Spirit that is now alive in us, an ultimate act of grace on His behalf not ours – then we are not divided. That means we are standing in the same ground in the same Kingdom undivided. I’m believing that you do not put the revelations of men before the revelations of God’s Son and Word.

“I hope you take this with the heart that it is written with. Be blessed my friends.”
I hope you see my heart behind this too. I am simply being as factual as I can on this. The church is in serious trouble, so I wish to make people aware of the things that ministers are saying in the name of ‘Jesus’.

Thank you for your love and prayers. I hope you also received this response in the same way you wished me to take yours.

  3. “This site has been running for two years now”
The first article posted to this blog (ironically this very same one) was made in August 2010. Not even one year ago.

Jake “The Lying Douche” Elliot said what?

  4. Now THAT is how you take someone out of context ‘That Guy’. IN CONTEXT I said, ‘This site has been running for two years now I think’. I was thinking on the fly.

And you thought I strained at gnats and swallowed camels? You want me to ‘remove the speck’ while you bash me over the head with your log?

You condemn me saying that I condemn pastors on this blog. It’s becoming really clear who has the problem. I haven’t resulted in name-calling you.

  5. Wow. I don’t agree with everything you say Jake, but at least I write my comment with my name signed at the bottom and not just to slag you off. 🙂

    God bless, speak soon.

  6. PS: I am now following! Yay. So hopefully will be able to have a good look at some articles soon!

  7. And who exactly made you the judge of the people who spend their lives investing into the Kingdom of God, building significant churches and seeing thousands saved?

How is criticising men of God going to “help individuals discover the wonderful untainted saving Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ!”

  8. Dear Gosia,
    Can you please define the following terms;

    – People of God (How do we measure a true person of God?)
    – Significant Church (What makes a church a church?)
    – Men of God ( Is a man of God one that DOESN’T follow His word?)
    – Saving Gospel (does this gospel involve lies?)

It will do us all well to know what defines the above, because just believing doesn’t make it real or true. This isn’t about having a sweet sentiment, it is about loving the truth and that being the truth of God.

PS; How do you know there are thousands saved?

  9. Gosia:
“And who exactly made you the judge of the people who spend their lives investing into the Kingdom of God, building significant churches and seeing thousands saved?”

Are you making a critical judgment on me? I am happy to take correction from people. But first take Jesus’ advice by removing the log from your own eye before removing the ‘speck’ from my own. You can’t accuse me of being judgmental and critical when you are being judgment and critical of me. That is called hypocrisy. Deal with that first and then try with me again.

    Gosia:
“How is criticising men of God going to “help individuals discover the wonderful untainted saving Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ!”

I find it odd that you are accusing me ‘criticising men of God’, when all I have done is post up quotes that let people see what they are saying (except for three articles; one was an observation on what certain ministers preach, one was demonstrating how a preacher covers his tracks if someone isn’t healed after they pray, the third being how to preach). Overall, I want people form their own judgments. Some people have commented that they liked some of the things certain preachers have said, while I disagree. The articles themselves do not criticise ‘men of God’ as you wrongly judged. Please re-evaluate your critical judgment.

    Regards,
    Jake
