You’ve saved money to buy an I-Pad. Some of you students, you’ve been saving your money to buy an I-Pad. There’s none for sale anyway, I tried all day yesterday to buy one. I’ve been to 3 Apple stores. Don’t worry about it.
Some of you saved money to buy an I-Pad. You’re gonna sow it. Notice how quiet it just got in here? Some of you, you’ve been saving money for a new car. You’re gonna re-allocate that asset and sow it. Some of you families, you’ve been saving money to buy a house. You’re gonna take that money and you’re gonna sow it.
And it’s gonna take a stack of faith for you because it’s something you’ve never done before. But a seed of wealth is not a seed that is just ….’ahhh!’……doesn’t mean anything to you. It is a seed that is a re-allocation of a consumption……”
He sure knows how to work the members of Cathedral of Praise ( COP) in Manila. I had to smile when I read how he told the students to give their I-Pad money, YET, that very day, was out looking for his own? Just how much does Sumrall “re-allocate?”
Ironically, Judas Iscariot carried the money bag for the Ministry as well and in the end his focus was more on filling his own bag with silver than on filling the Kingdom with souls! Additionally, No doubt he too was the one who complained the LOUDIST when a costly jar of oil was used to anoint the Lord before His death and burial. Because Judas too was more focused and concerned on earthly issues. More the temporal value of the ointment (I-Pad) rather than the salvation of the soul.
This MISLEADING and erroneous prosperity gospel, tithing focused, money seeking gospel being preached is the BIG latter day lie which appeals so strongly to the soul and FLESH nature of man and sadly the clergy, those directing and overseeing the sheep. Congregants being told, and scolded, and demeaned, to have hope in the promise, if they just give a little, THEY”LL GET A LOT, just hand over that I-Pad money, don‘t invest in that car give it too me. These directives are no more than the catalyst that will eventually produce the FRUIT of ALL EVIL!
This ministered Prosperity Gospel and teaching being sucked up by COP members is the very same LIE the Devil enticed Jesus with at the end of His 40 day wilderness fast. Just SERVE ME satan tempted, and I’ll give you all wealth, riches and power over the kingdoms of this world. WHAT A LIE FROM THE PIT OF HELL!!! Of course, Jesus TOTALLY REJECTED THE LIES OF IT ALL.
When did the church become big business? When it stopped seeking God and started investing more time in majoring in finance.

Sir , I am also a member of COP for a long time 20 yrs to be exact. I’m just wondering , how well you know Pastor Sumrall ? Do you know him personally ? Have you attended our church ? Or you don’t go to church at all. Because if it is ..then you wouldn’t bad mouth God’s annointed. Please , you’re the one who needs a wake up call from God not us brother ! Or come to our church and experience the love and grace of God in your life coz I think YOU NEED A LOT OF LOOOOOVE men ! hahahaha
I’ve been a part of COP since I was young. None of Pastor Sumrall’s sermons are misleading. I’ve seen how my family’s life changed from poverty to prosperity. I would rather listen to Pastor who majored in Finance AND more importantly Ministerial Studies than someone who writes a blog to discredit people. Your motives are so wrong. And you have poor Bible knowledge.

I have been warned by a respected brother & prominent Christian speaker that COP (Cathedral of Praise) is a cult, esp that Mr David Sumrall’s COP is the only ‘church’ unlike the rest of the Christian churches in the country that do not submit to accountability & prefer to manage the church the way he sees fit. I grew up in that church where the majority of the attendees are middle class & low income. Is it not strange that the head of the church can afford to own luxurious properties, even at a point, live in One Roxas Triangle, the country’s most upscale residential condominium in Ayala Triangle, even until now, with only 4 units to a floor with the country’s most prominent businessmen & politicians as neighbors? Even justifying to the church members in his sermons why one should love his wife by gifting her with expensive cars, including himself. I did not believe my well-meaning friend, when he said, the flock does not know they are going the wrong way, because Mr David Sumrall is truly charismatic as church leaders are, until a resident & a non-believer pointed out that isn’t he (Mr David Sumrall) supposed to protect his flock, which #1, already ‘stumbled’ the faith of a non-believer; #2. was not as transparent as he says he is by hiding his finances, when whether he likes it or not will be known anyways, esp large amount transactions; # 3, was never able to stand himself up & hid behind his secretary & ‘blinded’ followers regarding his extravagant wealth, esp when he admits that his one & only profession is heading the church (attended by middle income & low income population of the country); #4 of course, he will be defended ‘to death’ by his staff as he allocates contributions to provide brand new cars to pastors in their visitations to church members, while church members as myself have ‘sowed’ hand & mouth’ to his insistent altar calls using Malachi 3:1 “open heaven” & still cannot afford to buy a new car; #5, when asked why we are not receiving financial blessings inspite of the faithful giving, he sarcastically remarked, ” Don’t you have enough to give to even complain?” My friends & I went into prayer & eventually decided to leave COP.
I am a member of Cathedral of Praise and if you KNOW pastor Sumrall, he does not need anybody to defend him, thus he does not “hide behind his secretary and blinded followers”.
I have sowed seeds and continue to bring back God’s tithe thru my local church (Cathedral of Praise) all these years and will continue to do so. And you know what Anton and the writer of this blog, our Father in heaven is faithful ! He has greatly blessed me and my family. The Bible truth about sowing and giving works! I don’t know about you not receiving financial blessings, you may have to look at your heart why it doesn’t work for you. 🙂
I am not blindly following Pastor Sumrall, he is still a work in progress as all of us are and only Jesus is perfect! But pastor is a man of integrity, honest and a faithful husband.
The church financial information is available to all church members for scrutiny, we can see how every penny is spent.
My family and I are glad we have a pastor who teach sound Bible doctrines. We can count on our pastors that when our family needs help, we can call them to visit us and pray for us.

Back in 1984 I made a profession of faith at the Bethel Temple Robinson’s Malate facility then moved to the US in 2002 and became a member of a Baptist Church since then.
Looking at the COP website, it has no posted statement of faith. Also on the COP website, only Lester Sumrall’s book is in it but nothing on David’s? How come?
Amen to you. Just tried them today. After leaders sang with great techno visuals they immediately proclaimed tithing time. They claimed tithing is related to Gods Blessings that pour into us from above.
Lester was cool, biblical, a man to fallow as he followed Christ. This generation of sons, and grand sons of that older day, John Osteen, and all of them, they had something, these think they have something because they we’re under the anointing of daddy, Grandpa, Grandma.Today, the fear of The Lord is as far from them as poverty. These “Royal offspring” never fought for it like their ancestors did. They mostly know no war for the things of God. They all think Jesus wasn’t in agreement with the Father as they watched the three boys go into the first furnace 7 times hotter. Or The Son and Father waiting to see the Lion’s not even able to open the mouths at Good Old Daniel. If they went through the fire, why not us? That’s the message these just don’t have. A man should work and pastor, not get fat off the sheep. The teachings of the apostles, not the apostates. Jesus pattern was correct, at around 120 persons, the local elders set up another leadership to Shepard them, not mega church crap to keep the Nicolaitan spirit over the laity. Oppress the people/sheep is dangerous, God will remove, all things come to the light. Home church is where all the real work is done, why the big property, the big top-heavy junk? This was all being brought out in 1987 through 1991 through the 90’s in preparation for the turn of the millennium. The op apostate church is far far far underway. They are hungry for sweet jesus, NOT THE JUDGE, not The One, The One Who sets free from drugs, demons, generational spirits, curses, ALL OF IT. I was in L.A. that Friday night Daddy Lester passed away in 1996, THE WHOLE BODY KNEW IT THAT NIGHT, THAT NIGHT!!!!!!! Glory to God Almighty Lester was a bulldozer, a man to be rekoned with. It effected L.A. in the spirit realm. These big mega things are an affront to God, He wants home fellowships, saints crying between the pourch and the alter for the ones they love. True prophets, apostles, Evangelist, true teachers & true Shepard’s after God’s heart alone.
By the way, for those who do not know, One Roxas Triangle luxurious 3-bedroom condo units are sized 308-309sqm in average & priced P46M up (which he later sold in early 2000), that he purchased in the parsely P20M ranges. Where is it written in the Bible that a pastor leading a church can enrich himself with the members’ offerings. Of course, Mr Sumrall is a very intelligent man saying it is not church money, but wow, to be able to sleep at night with 99.9% of the congregation in the middle & lower income ranges. Whew! Again, the man is too charismatic, & his congregation as all are will defend him to death of their love for him, but my friends & I, are sure glad, we saw the light.

Anton why did you know how much Pastor Sumrall’s condo unit and how much he sold it? Stop stalking Pastor Sumrall and start focusing on your own spiritual life. And btw, you are asking why he is “able to sleep at night with 99.9% of the congregation in the middle & lower income ranges” he can sleep well because he knows that God is already working His plans for His people. Pastor Sumrall prays for every member every day, fyi in case you didn’t know. God wants us to be prosperous? YES! God wants us to help the poor? YES! But don’t be so overzealous about that. We can help the poor and have an abundant, prosperous and rich life at the same time. Didn’t you know that? If Pastor Sumrall is rich WHO CARES? It’s his income after all and it only means that GOD is blessing him. He is not using the church money, fyi COP has a CFO (Chief Financial Officer). Lastly, about the brand new cars for the pastors, Pastor Sumrall wasn’t the one who bought cars for them, it’s a church car (company car) they use it for very important reason. How can they visit a member in a hospital immediately if they don’t have a car? We all know that if you commute in Manila you can sleep at the jeepney because its soooo traffic but if they have a private vehicle they can go to a place immediately so they can visit 40 members a day (per pastor/pastora) Come to think of that Anton. And some pastors has their own car. God takes all of our tithes and seed to use it to take care all of our spiritual needs that’s why EVERYTHING AT COP IS FREE!!

Pastor will punch you in the face when he sees you, better hide.Not literally punch, but explain his side. Everything we believe in is in the Bible. The Bible is no longer popular in the sense that no one explains it clearly, Pastor Dave only clearly teaches the Word of God. And if you attend our church, you’d be so amazed by the stories of our poor faithful members now incredibly wealthy because they gave not only when it is comfortable, but sometimes God tells us to give what he have saved for, so he can bless us with more and to check- wHO IS YOUR GOD? GOD OR MONEY? So shame on you, and I will find a way to delete this post. Hmmm… I’m pretty techy. We’ll see.
You’re certainly not COP!.. i was born again and grew up my faith in God in COP… all these years I have seen how it has grown from then Manila bethel temple with just a thousand members to what it is now… I was also one of the staff working for the PCD pastoral care department, i was there during the draught years the struggling years of our church before the revival came… how our Pastor has been a good shepherd in all the financial aspect of our church, the financial accounts are always open to the public, even what u give u will receive reciept… I have seen how our good pastor would always go around the property during the early years of building making specific instructions not to waste anything because it is the peoples money… i have seen the whole staff works hard even the wee hours esp. Ptr. Sumrall… i remember going home so tired from working n just barely makes it to my bed after having dinner sometimes not eating at all… understably so, he’s american and expects his staff to also work hard…. I have seen how from one small property COP acquired additional buildings with which to house the children’s church then later rebuilt COP again cuz there was flaws in its foundation and now the Columbarium and helping and funding the different branch churches all over the country… see i was there, I know Pastor Sumrall, I know his heart in serving God and guiding the people towards prosperity… how it has thought us that it is in giving that we receive, COP continues to stand on this principles… it always giving to the people, annual diary, free use of the church for concerts and seminars to help other pastors from other churches and all other activity geared to training and building men and women for the gospel… I am forever grateful to the LORD that He gave us Pastor Sumrall whom i have learned so much from, in being faithful, in stewardship…. that even if i’m no longer in the Phils… I still tuned in to COP preachings in FB and other social media… I still give not monthly but whenever there are calamities I still give to COP, cause i know how our money is being spent.. I will never forget as a child, being so poor COP every year would give groceries to my family for Christmas noche buena that they still do today… Pastor Sumrall and his family has been nothing but a good steward that’s why people like me who knows our Pastor well will always depend him… for I was part of COP’s growth, and so proud what it has become today… Glory to God,.. thank you LORD for the life of Pastor Sumrall, I for one continues to pray for Ptr. Sumrall and COP… and about the car I was there too when the LORD started to bless COP with alot of members that it was necessary to provide cars to our pastors and celfones too… well at least in my day, it was a beeper i remember, how our pastors can easily visit members even thru traffics.. they started to buy only Kia then with the same colors… haha!… those were the days!… i even go to COP bible college but only 1 sem being a staff is so taxing it was so hard to study at the same time… I love my COP days and I swear none of the people will say our pastor Sumrall is spending so much for himself and his family… our Pastor is such a good and darling man of God, I love him though i doubt he remembers me… haha!.. besides the church gives back to the people to all the people not just the tithers, that’s why its being blessed because COP are givers….esp. our Pastor, he is a brilliant man if it was making money he’s after, he would have been a millionnaire long time ago being a businessman.. instead he chose to serve God and live in the Philippines and be an undershepherd for God’s children.. he doesn’t even mixed business or politics with religion in our pulpit.. enough being said, i was just surprise there is such a blog like this.. shame!.. i will pray for ur enlightenment… know Ptr. Sowing and reaping is a fundamental biblical principal that applies to just about everything in the Christian life, money included.
Have you seen a clear statement of faith at all from David Sumrall? If he has one, why is it not posted prominently at the top banner for all to see?
And oh… you might want to look up 1 Timothy 2 & 3 as well as Titus 1 about women pastors…

We grew up poor along with COP (Pastor Lester Sumrall was still here 40plus years) back in the days. My mom si very strict about our tithes every month computing checking helping in feeding house to house visitations. All my relatives including my own father would mock us and laugh about tithing. my mom is so blessed that Gods favor was extended to her grandchildren and our helpers. We are now helping our relatives. By the way all the pastors teaching we check and verify them in the bible. We are encourage to do our part in our daily devotion so that we may be guided from Gods words and not by the pastors words
